30 yrs of handsonphysio!!

Where has the time gone? On 23rd August 1993 my friend and colleague Philippa Widdowson and I established Hands On Physiotherapy above a dentist in Handforth. We slowly grew with 4 evening appointments and Saturdays. By a year later Philippa was working 2 days a week and we had the 4 afternoon/evening work . By 3 years of accounts we knew we had a viable business. We had brainstormed the name of the business in the pub and our partners founded the name! 30 years on, who would have imagined that we regularly have people requesting and attending for “hands on” care.

We grew over the first 9 years and operated 2 businesses from Cheadle Hulme Bridge House and from Laburnum from 2002-2006 with many dedicated Associate Physios. We moved into new premises on Plumley Road and in 2007 I solely took over the business as Philippa bowed out. The business was 6 days a week and a very busy place to work!

A Successful Physiotherapy Practice

The success of the clinic has come from keeping up to date with physiotherapy and medical treatments, techniques and exercises. By networking and being relevant to GP’s and Consultants and referring clients on to experts if necessary. By investing in the clinic with a new IT equipment, new gym facilities, new physio equipment including the latest electrotherapy eg Deep Oscillation and in investing in our dedicated, hard working reception staff.

And finally, the effective physiotherapists, currently Andrea Wright, Alison Bray and Fiona Hunter, who deliver expert care who are passionate and hard working in their work to deliver high quality patient care. It is a very positive and happy place to work, and many clients note that when they are under going Physiotherapy management.
