Meet The Hands On Team

All our staff are highly qualified, skilled and experienced professional physiotherapists. They all undertake regular post graduate training to ensure they are kept up to date with all current techniques. All staff are members of the C.S.P, H.C.P.C and PhysioFirst. You will find them to be friendly, efficient and courteous.

Andrea Wright

Founding Physiotherapy Director

Qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist, from Sheffield City Polytechnic, in 1988 and worked at Wythenshawe Hospital for 13 years. She has worked primarily with musculoskeletal conditions and worked with Sale and Manchester Rugby teams in the 1990’s. She has attended many post-graduate courses including kinetic control stability modules, orthopaedic medicine, the MACP course, and Muscle Energy Techniques.

Andrea has worked as a clinical specialist in the management of non-surgical LBP patients. She left the NHS in 2001 to expand work at Hands-On Physiotherapy. Andrea has particular interests in the cause and treatment of back pain, complex faulty movement patterns associated with postural weaknesses and soft tissue injuries related to racquet sports. She has completed a course in kinesiology taping and goes to international conferences annually to extend her knowledge. She lectured at the AACP Conference in 2016 on Deep Oscillation Therapy. Andrea has played league badminton and currently plays Ladies Doubles and mixed tennis for AECC tennis club. In 2016 she took up road cycling and completed a 40km race. Andrea also enjoys Pilates, Kettle Bells and Yoga.

Alison Bray

Physiotherapist
Qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1988, also from Sheffield City Polytechnic. She has worked in the NHS specialising in Musculo-Skeletal Physiotherapy. She completed a post graduate MACP course in 1995 and joined Hands On Physiotherapy in July 2005.She has special interests in sports injury prevention, exercise management, especially in complex core control issues associated with LBP. She also uses  Dry Needling and K taping as an adjunct to her manual skills. She is especially interested in correct movement analysis, how posture affects the body and its influence to injury. She enjoys running, yoga, travel, walking, especially with her Labradoodle!

Fiona Physiotherapist at Hands On Physio Handforth Cheshire

Fiona Hunter

Physiotherapist

Qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist from the University of Liverpool 2005 and has worked in a wide variety of NHS hospitals across Merseyside and London. For the past 6 years Fiona has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, combining NHS, private and sports work. She has worked with junior elite athletes at U21 and U18 age groups in hockey, across European competitions and accompanying them on international tours.

Alongside her manual therapy and rehabilitation skills, Fiona has furthered her studies and offers the Graston Technique. This method helps to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions, and help improve any areas of soft tissue dysfunction. Fiona is also qualified to provide acupuncture and kinesio taping alongside physiotherapy treatments. 

Lucie Winstanley BSc Hons in Physiotherapy

Lucie Winstanley

Physiotherapist

Lucie joined our team in March 2025. With over 25 years of experience following her BSc Hons in Physiotherapy, Lucie also has a Diploma in Orthopaedic medicine and a degree in Anatomy, Human Biology and Psychology. She has extensive experience in both NHS and private hospitals as well as private clinics. As such, she has developed a wide range of skills and knowledge to treat patients effectively. Her particular areas of interest are vestibular rehab exercises and the treatment of TMJ issues. She uses myofascial release and structural integration techniques to treat spinal pain and headaches.

She has a passion for lifelong learning, developing further skills and knowledge to help people to her best abilities. She uses myofascial release to complement her hands on treatment and is currently studying further into structural integration and functional neurology; looking at the bigger picture of why an area may be persistently painful or moves from one body part to another.

Linda Blair

Linda Blair

Linda joined the practice is August 2022 as a Part time Receptionist/Administrator.

Linda’s working experience has been mainly within the Manufacturing/Construction Sector, providing Administration/Credit Control support at all levels.

Having relocated to Cheshire from Dorset Linda is looking forward to exploring Cheshire and beyond. In her spare time Linda enjoys baking, decorating and gardening.
